Su cuy’gar! (That is a traditional Mandalorian greeting)
So Entertainment Weekly dropped some big news today. There will be 20 books as part of the “Journey to the Force Awakens” campaign this fall. This includes new novels, junior fiction, comics, reference books and more that will contain little tidbits of things from Episode VII.
I am a huge fan of the Star Wars novels, so to me the announcement of Star Wars: Aftermath is the biggest news here. Jedi-Bibliothek has found a synopsis on the Barnes and Noble website that appears to be for Aftermath.
The second Death Star is destroyed. The Emperor and his powerful enforcer, Darth Vader, are rumored to be dead. The Galactic Empire is in chaos.
Across the galaxy, some systems celebrate, while in others Imperial factions tighten their grip. Optimism and fear reign side by side.
And while the Rebel Alliance engages the fractured forces of the Empire, a lone Rebel scout uncovers a secret Imperial meeting…
They also re-confirmed the junior fiction with Luke, Leia, and Han (see my previous post). There also will be novels telling the stories of the original trilogy through the eyes of other supporting characters, though they didn’t say who those characters would be. Boba Fett, Wedge Antilles, or Mon Mothma maybe? One can only guess.
There will also be some reference style books such as Ships of the Galaxy from DK Publishing and at least 2 titles from Marvel Comics.
Star Wars literature is my main obsession in the EU so I’m very excited for the future!
