Season 1 of Rebels Streaming Free till May 4th!

May the 4th is coming and it’s keeping me busy with Star Wars news!

You can stay busy watching the entire first season of Star Wars: Rebels for free on from now till May 4th. Remember that Season 2 starts June 20th so it’s a great time watch or re-watch and get yourself up to speed.

Star Wars: Rebels Season 2 Premiere Date!

Good news everyone! just announced that Season 2 of the Star Wars: Rebels animated series will premiere on June 20th at 9:00 PM on Disney XD!

The first episode will be an hour long movie event and is titled, “Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal”. The trailer for Season 2 was shown at Celebration Anaheim, and I posted it then, but I’m gonna do it again just because I love it.

Disney XD will also have some special programming on May the 4th in celebration of the Star Wars holiday. There will be a special titled “Star Wars Rebels: The Ultimate Guide” which will recap all of Season 1 and marathons of Star Wars Rebels Season One and LEGO Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles. In addition there will be sneak peeks of the new LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales and airings of all the Star Wars episodes of their other programs (Phineas and Ferb, Kickin’ It, and Lab Rats).

Once again a great time to be a Star Wars fan. Watch the Season 2 trailer again and get pumped with me!

Clone Wars “Bad Batch” Story Arc Released!

At ease Troopers.

Today released the storyboard animations for the Clone Wars “Bad Batch” storyline. This was another set of episodes that was not completed when The Clone Wars Season 6 was interrupted. Just like the “Crystal Crisis” storyline, it is storyboard animation with voice acting from the real stars of the TV series.

This was shown at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim at the Clone Wars panel and since we now know that Rexx is coming back in Season 2 of Rebels, these storyboards may fill in some gaps between the two shows.

Book Review of Star Wars: A New Dawn!

A while back I finished the audiobook version of John Jackson Miller’s Star Wars: A New Dawn and I’ve been meaning to write this review to share my thoughts and opinions on it with all of you.

First, allow me to give you a summary. This book features two of the main characters from the Star Wars Rebels show: Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla. The story details how the duo crossed paths and became rebels together. For those unfamiliar with the show, Kanan is a former Jedi Padawan whose master was slain during Order 66 when the Clone Troopers turned on the Jedi Order. Hera is a smart, brave Twi’lek female who is trying to organize a rebellion against the Empire.

The book also features several characters and places new to the Star Wars universe. As always diversity in personality and alien races makes the setting feel truly intergalactic and Miller does a good job of making the characters feel alive. The Empire is fully embodied by the antagonists: Count Vidian, a human cyborg abomination of a man who prizes efficiency over lives; and Captain Sloane, an Imperial commander who follows orders and turns a blind eye to the suffering that she causes in the hopes of gaining more power within the Empire.

The story was just a little slow in the beginning but once setting and characters are established it becomes rather engrossing. Plenty of epic, over the top, science fiction action is to be found within the book; and a multitude of details and foreshadowing leaving some questions in the readers mind till the very end.

I found the book to be enjoyable once it started moving. There are no big twists or surprises but the story is definitely an adventure. My favorite thing about this book is discovering more about Kanan and Hera’s characters. Kanan’s life as a Jedi youngling and padawan is briefly visited and it definitely whet my appetite for Marvel’s Star Wars: Kanan comic series (just read that and I’ll make another post on it). Mostly I appreciated a more in depth look at Hera. In the Rebels show the Twi’lek is the mother figure of the ragtag group, but I don’t feel like her character or history was explored nearly enough.

In summary it’s a good adventure and a deeper look into some of the Rebels characters, and being the first book of the new canon it sets a good tone of action and adventure going forward.

A final comment. The paperback version of this book is a new strange size that is taller than normal and is 9.99 instead of the typical 6.99 to 7.99 price range. I don’t know if this will be the same for all PB’s in the new canon, but I hope it isn’t. I already buy them in E-book when they first come out and buy paperbacks for my shelf later. I don’t want to have to pay more for them.

Star Wars: Rebels Season 2 Trailer and Poster!

The Star Wars Rebels panel concluded at Celebration earlier and in it they showed the trailer for season 2 of Rebels. Please watch it below so I can gush about it afterwards.

So on to the gushing…

Ahsoka’s back, Rex is coming, the Emperor gets involved, Darth Vader is chasing them, and more inquisitors on their tail! I don’t want to sound like a total fan boy but… OH MY GOD, I AM EXCITED. The first season of Rebels had great moments but it also had the unmistakable feel of a kid’s show and that it was kind of a stand-alone story to the Star Wars universe. This trailer shows us that Season 2 is going to be a dramatic amazing ride with a host of beloved characters, both good and evil, returning to the limelight. I did not expect to be blown away by this trailer like I was and now I cannot wait to get to see these episodes.

Check out the post on for the live blog of the panel and try not to get to excited for season 2 of Rebels.

A New Dawn in Paperback Today!

Good morning friends,

March is coming to an end today, but a new dawn will bring us into April. That was a pun because the first book of the new Star Wars canon comes out in paperback today, Star Wars: A New Dawn.

Based on 2 of the characters from Star Wars: Rebels, this book marks the beginning of a whole new era of Star Wars novels. All the Expanded Universe books that came before this title have been changed into the Legends alternate storyline. This makes A New Dawn a great place for people who are interested in the EU to start reading. Since it’s on paperback you will see it all over, probably even at your grocery store. So pick it up and open your eyes to a wider world…

You can read my review of this book here as well.

Season Finale of Star Wars: Rebels, Monday!

Hello all,

Posts have been thin in the last week because there are so many rumors going around about Episode VII and I will not read them, and don’t wanna report on them.

Some solid news though…

The finale of the first season of Star Wars: Rebels is airing tomorrow (Monday, March 2nd) I’m very excited about it and will be watching the previous episode and this one tomorrow with my son. There is a teaser for it showcasing a fight between Kanan, Ezra, and the Inquisitor (notice that Kanan and Ezra are using each other’s lightsabers for some reason) and the end teases the dramatic entrance of Darth Vader into the Rebels storyline. Check it out:

Since the season will be drawing to a close, I will re-watch the whole thing and post a full review of Season one because I like telling people what I think. I’m also almost done reading the novel prequel to Rebels, Star Wars: A New Dawn, and should be writing a review of that as well.

Thanks for reading guys, may the force be with you and junk!
